The Psychology Society (𝚿) is a rapidly growing online community established on 𝕏
(formerly Twitter) in May 2024, amassing 38,700 members in less than a year. Operating within
𝕏’s Communities feature, it offers a semi-private environment where Arabic-speaking Muslims,
who make up approximately 95% of the membership, can openly discuss mental health concerns
while maintaining anonymity. The platform fosters a supportive space for individuals seeking
guidance on psychological well-being.
Content within the community predominantly focuses on depression, anxiety, and social
anxiety, reflecting prevalent mental health challenges in Arab communities. These topics also
highlight cultural influences that shape which psychological concerns members feel comfortable
addressing. The community strives to bridge traditional Islamic values with evidence-based
psychological approaches, encapsulated in its slogan: “This is where science meets emotions and
knowledge meets awareness, to rise together towards better mental health.”
Strict moderation policies ensure discussions remain focused on psychological topics,
creating a safe and respectful environment free from advertising, spam, or inappropriate content.
The moderators, highly regarded for their expertise and approachable demeanor, play a key role
in maintaining trust. They provide reliable resources when requested, consistently recommending
high-quality resources, which has further solidified the community’s credibility. The Psychology
Society serves as a vital resource for its members, combining cultural sensitivity with mental
health awareness to foster meaningful dialogue and support.
